“Cancel the marriage certificates of Minor girls”, a major decision of LHC

Lahore High Court issued a written decision regarding the marriages of minor girls and ordered the strict implementation of the law and the Chairman Union Council to cancel the marriage certificates of minor girls .

According to the details, Justice Anwar-ul-Haq Pannu of the Lahore High Court issued an interim written order on the request of Ramzanah Bibi. The court made a major decision regarding the marriages of young girls and ordered the implementation of the law related to the marriages of young girls .

The court also set up a high-level committee on execution under the chairmanship of Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah and ordered that the first meeting of the committee be convened on March 4.

The Lahore High Court wrote in the written order that the participation of IG Punjab and Secretary Local Government should also be ensured in the committee. The court ordered that the Chairman Union Council cancel the marriage of minor girls immediately .

In the order, the court wrote that if any child marriage is registered, action will be taken according to law .

In the written order, it is said that the Director General of Local Government Department has made his suggestions in this regard, according to which the Acting Director of Local Government will check and provide the records of the Union Council every month at the Tehsil level.

According to the court, the Prosecutor General Punjab submitted a report regarding the challans of the cases related to the marriage of minor girls and said that in view of the related issue, a facility senator has been established for the preparation of challans.

The Lahore High Court said in a written order that there are many issues that need to be resolved, representatives of the local government should also participate in the meeting on March 4 and submit a fresh report to the court.

The court also sent Hareem with her aunt in the light of the statement for getting married at a young age.
