The JIT probing the smear campaign against the judiciary and Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa has received the records of 519 social media users who have been posting slanderous content against the Supreme Court and the chief justice on various platforms.
According to the documents available, the FIA cybercrime team has handed over to the JIT the record of all the posts of more than 500 social media users who have been running the anti-judiciary campaign. The report submitted by the FIA reveals that action is being taken against all the account operators who have been maligning the institutions.
According to the documents, 308 social media accounts started posting slanderous content after the verdict on a political party’s election symbol. The report further states that 211 social media accounts have been running an anti-judiciary campaign for several months, 27 official accounts in the name of a political party ran an anti-judiciary campaign, 47 leaders of a political party posted organized anti-judiciary posts on social media, 57 ticket holders of a political party slandered the judiciary on social media, and 103 supporters of a political party, YouTubers and vloggers ran an anti-judiciary campaign.
The documents also includes material posted by some journalists, TV anchors, famous YouTubers and social media activists on social media. The report states that 187 users, including some journalists and influencers, also participated in the anti-judiciary campaign from within and outside the country.
The report says that approximately 309 Twitter accounts are running an anti-judiciary campaign against the judiciary and the chief justice of Pakistan. 115 YouTubers, TikTokers and Facebook account users ran a campaign. 37 accounts ran a campaign by hoisting the flag of a political party. 27 accounts are propagating from outside the country.
The report identifies 97 social media accounts, while 80 accounts have not been identified or are declared fake accounts.
