During its session on Monday, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) City Council unanimously approved a resolution against K-Electric (KE), presented by Jamat-e-Islami (JI).
The resolution calls for action from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) against KE, the sole power provider in the city. It also urges power supply to Karachi residents through the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) at reduced rates.
Saifuddin Advocate, JI’s parliamentary leader in the city council, asserted that KE has amassed significant influence in the city and enjoys protection from various governments. He stressed that KE must ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to Karachi’s populace.
