Punjab CM Maryam visits Kot Lakhpat jail, inaugurates hospital

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz broke her fast on Sunday with women inmates at Central Jail Kot Lakhpat, Lahore and inaugurated video calling center and a specialised 20-bed hospital within the premises.

Responding to her directives, a diverse iftar menu was meticulously prepared, featuring traditional favorites such as biryani, samosas, pakoras, along with fruits and yogurt, enhancing the spirit of communal dining amidst the incarcerated community.

During her visit, Punjab CM personally served the prisoners, engaging with them in heartfelt conversations, while also conducting a thorough inspection of the prison kitchen to ensure the quality of food served to the inmates.

She also visited the cell where her father, Nawaz Sharif, was previously confined, reflecting on the challenges faced during that time.

Punjab CM also interacted with the prisoners, addressing their grievances and taking note of their needs, reaffirming her commitment to prison reform and rehabilitation efforts.

The Punjab administrator also inaugurated the video call facility for prisoners, marking Central Jail Lahore as the pioneer in providing such a service. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between incarcerated individuals and their loved ones, fostering familial bonds despite physical barriers.
