Govt hike petrol price by Rs13.55 per litre

The federal government on Wednesday increased petrol and diesel prices in a fortnightly review.

A notification issued by Finance Division states that the petrol price has been jacked up by Rs13.55 to Rs272.89 per litre while high speed diesel price has been increased by Rs2.75 to Rs276.21 per litre.

The revised prices will come into effect from February 1, 2024. The latest increase comes as tension continues to flare up in Middle East amid Israeli military strikes in Gaza.

The notification added that the increase in petroleum prices had been recommended by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).
